When Kenny Berbick was 40 years old, life was exactly where he wanted it to be.

His bowel habits changed, sometimes several trips to the bathroom a day, and his stool became noticeably thinner. He also began feeling full after eating only a small amount of food and unintentionally lost a significant amount of weight.

Everything changed in April 2025.

While driving to pick up one of his daughters from school, Kenny received a phone call from his doctor. She asked him to pull over before continuing the conversation.

She told him that the CT scan showed colon cancer and urged him to go immediately to the emergency room because the tumor had become so large that it could cause a bowel obstruction.

At that moment, Kenny knew he had cancer.

What he didn’t know was just how advanced it was.

After arriving at the hospital, doctors performed additional scans, blood work, and a colonoscopy. It was there that Kenny learned the devastating truth: he had stage 4 colon cancer that had already spread to his liver.

The news turned his family’s world upside down.

Doctors recommended surgery, but Kenny chose to seek additional opinions before making a decision. Hoping to find another path, he explored holistic treatments for several months. Despite his efforts, the cancer continued to grow.

Eventually, he began chemotherapy at City of Hope in California.

He underwent three different chemotherapy regimens, but none stopped the disease from progressing.

Today, Kenny is participating in a clinical trial, continuing to fight with the same determination that has defined him throughout his life.

Cancer has changed Kenny in ways he never expected.

He no longer waits to tell people he loves them.

He doesn’t waste energy on things that don’t matter.

He appreciates every morning he wakes up and every moment he gets to spend with his family.

His wife and children are the reason he keeps fighting.
